If you receive an error stating that your browser needs camera access after uploading the front and back of your ID, it usually means the verification link opened in an in-app browser (like inside your email app), or your browser settings are blocking camera permissions.
Follow these steps to successfully complete your verification.
Are you on Mobile or Desktop?
While we strongly recommend completing verification on a mobile phone (due to higher camera quality and better device compatibility), you can complete it on either device type:
Option A: Complete on Mobile (Recommended)
In-app browsers (browsers built into apps like Gmail, Outlook, etc) often restrict camera access even if your device settings allow it.
1. Use a Native Mobile Browser
-
Copy the verification link from your email or app.
-
Open your device’s native browser directly:
-
iPhone (iOS): Open Safari.
-
Android: Open Google Chrome.
-
-
Paste the link into the address bar and proceed.
2. Check Mobile Camera Permissions
-
iPhone (iOS): Go to Settings > Safari > Camera > Allow.
-
Android: Go to Settings > Apps > Chrome > Permissions > Camera > Allow while using the app.
Option B: Complete on a Desktop Computer
If you are using a laptop or desktop computer, ensure your computer has a working webcam and that your browser permits camera access.
1. Allow Browser Camera Permissions
-
Google Chrome: Click the tune/padlock icon next to the URL in the address bar > toggle Camera to On (or set to Allow).
-
Apple Safari (macOS): Go to the top menu: Safari > Settings… > Websites tab > Camera > Set the current website permission to Allow.
-
Microsoft Edge / Mozilla Firefox: Click the lock or icon next to the address bar and ensure Camera access is explicitly granted.
2. Verify Your Webcam Hardware
-
Ensure no other application (Zoom, Teams, Skype, Google Meet) is actively using your camera in the background.
-
Check system privacy settings:
-
Windows: Settings > Privacy & Security > Camera > Turn on Let apps access your camera and Let desktop apps access your camera.
-
macOS: System Settings > Privacy & Security > Camera > Ensure your browser is checked.
-
General Troubleshooting (All Devices)
If you still encounter the issue after checking permissions:
-
Close extra tabs: Close all active browser tabs, restart the browser, and try again.
-
Disable Private Browsing / Incognito Mode: Temporary privacy modes can interfere with identity checks.
-
Disable VPNs or Content Blockers: Turn off active VPNs, extensions, or ad blockers for the duration of the check.
Still Having Trouble?
If you are still blocked after following the steps above, please contact Support with the following details so we can investigate your attempt with our verification provider (Stripe):
-
The device type, make, and model (e.g., iPhone 14, MacBook Pro M2, or Dell XPS 13).
-
The browser you are using (e.g., Safari, Chrome, Edge).
-
